Medical Fund for Barb

Donation protected
On January 24th of this year, Barb Perry found herself in the E.R. with acute appendicitis. Contrary to popular belief, a burst appendix isn't removed immediately; rather, it's removed after 6-8 weeks of heavy antibiotics to eliminate the infection and calm the inflammation. During this waiting period, Barb learned that she also had a 7 cm cyst on her ovary.

On April 24, 2014, surgeons removed her right ovary and performed a routine appendectomy. A week later, doctors broke the news to Barb that the appendicitis was caused by a T3 tumor and that she was at Stage 2 of Appendix Cancer, a malignancy that has no known causes and is such a rare form of cancer that it only affects [phone redacted] Americans in any given year.

She underwent surgery again in June, and many tests later was told "there seems to be no apparent signs of cancer." While this is good news, the matter is far from over because she will have to be heavily monitored and tested for the next few years.

Although insurance does help, it does not cover everything. We are looking at raising $10,000. Any funds over and above this amount will go to future scans, testing and doctor visits.

Thank you for your continued love, prayers and support. Barb feels absolutely blessed to have such a loving a supportive community that has really rallied and championed her during this difficult year.
