Watsonville Community Garden

Donation protected
Hello all, Thank you for visiting. In Santa Cruz county about 50% of children are overweight and 1 in 3 children are obese by the third grade. In Watsonville that percentage is probably higher. Statistics say that Latinos in the U.S. are almost twice as likely to have diabetes than White people, with the Mexican population second only to Puerto Ricans. This is why we are fundraising to create two community gardens: on Holm Road behind Rolling Hills Middle School in Watsonville and on Florence/Jonathan streets behind Pajaro Middle School in Pajaro. We believe all people should have access to fresh, locally-grown, organic produce. These community gardens will also provide some positivity to two communities usually in the negative spotlight and will promote organic pesticide-free food. Please donate to our campaign and make Watsonville a healthier place to live in! This is a collaboration between Mesa Verde Gardens (www.mesaverdegardens.org), PVUSD teachers, and community activists.
