The Cost of Battling Cancer

Donation protected

Growing up, I constantly heard stories from my loved ones about people they knew who were battling cancer or had lost their battles with cancer. It didn't run in my family, it did not affect me personally, so I never thought this would happen to me. I was just an average 24 year old girl with my whole life ahead of me. In December of 2013, after months of dealing with excruciating hip pain, the surgeries and biopsies began. After countless procedures, months of walking on crutches and canes, finally in April, we had an answer.

On April 10, 2014, I was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma, a very rare cancer of the blood in the top of my femur and both sides of my pelvis. Usually, young adults my age spend their summers relaxing in the sunshine, planning trips with loved ones, and enjoying time off of school. This summer, I spent my days battling this cancer with chemotherapy. As of September, my first round of chemotherapy is over, and we are waiting with fingers crossed to hear some good news. Hopefully I will not need radiation. In one short summer, I have already accumulated $250,000 in hospital debt, a debt I know I will never be able to pay back on my own. Working part-time, being a student, and having to still keep myself afloat, I know that this debt will be extremely difficult to pay off, so I thought I'd give GoFundMe a shot. I wanted to thank you for letting me share my story with you, whether you provide a donation or not. I know this is a really large goal, and it may never be reached, I just want to thank you for every penny.

Love & Light,
