I am very grateful for all who donated. I'm floored by how much support this received and don't really have the words to express my gratitude. We're almost at 100 percent of the goal after only 10 days. Just amazing. :)

This is the first time I've ever done something like this, but it's for a more worthy cause than I've ever had.
See, there's a friend of mine (actually she's more like a surrogate grandmother) that has had to have surgery for her spine. For the longest time she's had back pain that, often, cripples her to the point that she can barely move. Her doctor finally scheduled surgery for her, but the bill is quite a bit larger than she can reasonably afford right now.
This person is not unable to care for herself. Far from it. She's one of the most giving people I've ever met. But things are really tight right now. A lot of unexpected expenses have hit (such as her air conditioning unit dying a month ago), and it's getting a bit overwhelming.
Her health insurance can only cover so much of this important medical expense. All I ask is that, if you are able, please give a little money to help out a fellow human-being. One that I consider to be among the pinnacle of the species.
