DHALL'S MEDICAL & TRANSPLANT FUND

Derek Hall, better known D Hall is “that friend”, the one with the best jokes and the biggest heart anyone has ever known.  D Hall's newest obstacle is nothing short of a challenge. He has been diagnosed with renal and stomach cancer and needs a transplant ASAP.

D Hall played football at the University of Arizona and was the  President of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He graduated with a degree in Dramatic Theory, and went on to begin his football-coaching career. He began at Eastern Michigan University then the University of Arizona, and made his way to Delaware State. While at DSU, D Hall discovered he had Polycystic Kidney Disease, and resigned due to doctor's requests. Even with football coaching in his blood, fate had another turn for D Hall. He visited a movie set with a producer he had met in Southern California.  This visit sparked a new career era for D Hall and he embarked into the film industry as a Production Assistant. Now a 2nd Assistant Director and member of the Directors Guild of America, his resume' is quite esteemed with movies such as Pitch Perfect 2, 12 Years A Slave, Nicholas Sparks’ The Best of Me, the television shows Chase and Dallas, and many more.

July 2013, D Hall moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and was working on the upcoming project The Best Of Me, when doctor’s diagnosed him with  Kidney failure,  Renal Cancer and heart disease. He moved to Chicago to seek dialysis treatment and start the kidney transfer process. D Hall grew up in Chicago, and lives with his best friend Matt, (aka Fatty), and his wife. D was placed on the kidney donor waiting list at Northwestern University Hospital. He had an outpouring of support for the kidney donation, and was lucky enough to find a friend that is a match. Unfortunately, when doctors removed his kidney they discovered the cancer had spread to his stomach and lymphatic system and now he has complete renal failure.

It has been a journey for D Hall and an unpredictable one at that. Throughout, he has triumphed through with his positive attitude and great friends. He has also begun experimental treatments, on top of the radiation and chemo therapy at Lurie Cancer Center in Chicago, Illinois. D Hall has a signature motto that he uses, “keep choppn wood,” and it keeps the positive energy alive. He keeps a positive attitude and continues to fight one step at a time.

If you could spare a donation of any amount please do so.  The medical bills are piling up and there is a lot more to be done.  Those of us who love D Hall need your help.

Thank you!
