Fire damage

Donation protected
I am posting this on behalf of Sal's mother, Lori.

Dear Friends:

This weekend was devastating for my youngest Honor Roll college graduate.

He has been a nurse for the past 6 years working with severely handicapped children at Misericordia Home.

He is getting ready to start a new position at a Hospital in Chicago in a week.

This past Friday night Salvatore came home to find his two bedroom condo rental engulfed in flames.

He was able to get his dog out, and the neighbor's dog he saved by resuscitating it.

He risked his own life to save the neighbor's animals.
My son and his roommate lost everything to smoke and water damage. The fire started in the condo below.

Unfortunately as many of us have done in the past, we tend to forget to purchase renter's insurance when we are just renting apartments. This was on my sons todo list.

I can not imagine losing everything I have worked so hard for and saved for my entire adult life and losing it all in seconds.

Luckily a friend staying with him on a temporary basis came home in the nick of time to discover the house fire. We are so thankful to his friend Mike.

Sal’s roommate Meagan Roach (also a Misericordia employee) lost everything she owned as well.

These are very dedicated, loving, and caring young adults that have dedicated their lives to be caregivers.

As Salvatore’s Mom, all I can say is how thankful I am that God has spared my son’s life, his roommate and his new dog “Lenny” (a rescue) from what could have been a mother’s worst nightmare. I am so thankful for that.

Material things are of course secondary, but in our society we all work and slave to make a comfortable life for ourselves to the best of our abilities.

Salvatore is the first to reach out to someone who is in dire straits.

Today I am asking that we try and help a young man get a portion of his life back.

If you could help in anyway with donations or monetary gifts to this page, it would be greatly appreciated.
If you would prefer you may mail your donation to my address where Salvatore is staying.
4333 North Monitor Avenue, Chicago, IL 60634
Please make any checks out to Salvatore Gerage.

My husband is not even aware of this yet, as he is in the hospital facing a major surgery.

Salvatore is currently back home with his dog and his roommate at my home until we can find them a new apartment.

Thank you,

Lori Gerage
