My nephew, Devon Martinez, was run over and killed after a simple argument. He was only 22 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. He was just starting his life and had just finished moving into his own apartment the very same day his life was taken by some senseless idiots.
He was such a sweet, kind and gentl soul who made everyone smile. He was always willing to help out no matter what and was very funny and just generally happy. He was our sweet baby - being the youngest son, grandson and nephew.
Devon didn't have any life insurance through his work - who does at the tender age of 22...
His older brother was with him and witnessed his brother get killed right in front of him. He will definitely need counseling in order to deal with witnessing this horrific act.
My son and I will be driving or flying to Albuquerque from California, as will other family members in order to help my sister with arrangements and to be there for her, Devon's dad, my other 2 nephews, my niece, my mom and the rest of our family.
My family and myself wont be able to cover all expenses. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated...I'm not sure how much funerals cost so I set the goal for $10,000. I've never done this before and I never want to do it again. I am numb and devastated and angry and sad and mad all at the same time.

I will keep you abreast of everything as I find out myself. I'm not sure when we can make arrangements since this was a murder and the police need to finish their investigation, etc...but I will post updates to my wall as I find out more. I did get word that the 2 suspects have been arrested. More to come..
