NERO-BOB'S STORY IN HIS OWNERS WORDS: "This beautiful dog is Nero-Bob. He’s been with my daughter and me since a puppy and is only 4 years old. He has pulled us through a lot of turbulent and trying times in our lives. August 6th he went missing from our home in Ishpeming, MI. D...espite our daily search parties, internet postings, and all other attempts there was not a single siting and no word, just silence. We had started to accept that we probably were never going to see him again. On August 18th it was pouring cats & dogs, and to a young woman at the grocery store a town over she thought it was probably a literal statement, when she spotted this emaciated husky/lab disoriented staring at the highway contemplating how he was going to get across. She spent over 45 minutes in the pouring rain trying to persuade him to get in her vehicle then she succeeded. She brought him home posted his picture on Facebook and I was notified that my boy had been found. When I picked him up I found his skin to be peeled back on his thigh, my normal veterinary clinic, despite dehydration, and the severe leg wound wouldn’t see him because I didn’t have the upfront capital to pay them that night. Luckily, a lovely volunteer from the lost and found paws of the u.p., a volunteer run Facebook page designed around circulating information on animals to assure they are reunited with their owners, contacted me to offer some financial assistance and were able to get him into the bayshore veterinary clinic. After further examination it was found that his laceration from his leg extended up his abdomen the normal surgery to repair this sort of wound only takes 20 minutes it took the veterinarian 2 hours but, they stitched him up, he spent the night with them and the vet said it’d be a long process about 6-8 weeks of recovery. He ended up ripping those stitches as the veterinarian had assumed, so he spent a second night at home then went back to the veterinarian the following morning where they stitched his laceration a second time. After another overnight hospitalization he came home, when we got home he wanted to reaffirm his possession of our property; his urine wasn’t coming out of the proper hole and was running out of his cut on his leg. He went back in to the vets’ office after only his third and to date last night home. He has been hospitalized since that day, and upon his very extensive three hour surgery they found his urethra is punctured and he now requires a special surgery performed by a soft tissue surgeon the closest being in Appleton it’s a very expensive procedure but it would be worth far more to our family."
