Darwen Triathlon "4" Darwen Ward

Colin Johnson (former in-patient of Darwen Ward), Helen McKenzie and Tina Maitland intend to complete the Darwen Triathlon which involves a 600m swim, 23km bike ride and 8km run one after the other to raise funds to purchase a TV, DVD Player, Remote controllers, Clothes, Men’s hygiene products and other useful items for Darwen Ward.

Darwen Ward provides individualised in patient care across East Lancashire for people with severe and enduring mental health needs. Care is provided on a needs led basis in the least restrictive way possible and is planned using a robust assessment of needs by a variety of professionals making up the Multi-Disciplinary Team involved in the patients care. Therapeutic engagement is positively promoted in a safe environment by staff who go out of their way to care for and assist these often forgotten souls. Many of the patients arrive in desperate need of clothing and whilst in-patients they require interactive activities to encourage their journey to recovery.
