Jason moving to Washington

Donation protected

Jason is having to relocate to Washington and having to leave a wonderful family, with whom he loves, because of health and financial problems.

As an artist, technical support specialist, former caretaker to the disabled, Jason always took for granted that he could count on his hands.

Now he is hoping you can give him a helping hand.

Jason was born in Oklahoma. Moved from abroad to the United States with a twinkle in his eye to Dallas, Texas 23 years ago.  He completed his college studies in an Assoicates of Applied Sciences with a major in music education. Jason has been in the Special Effects Industry for 24 years and the I.T. Industry for just as long.

Sadly he is now without options for healthcare as his current state of Nebraska did not opt for a Medicaid Expansion, there is little to none indigent care beyond a family practice in Lincoln, and he recently received a denial from his ALJ for SSDI even though all medical parties and vocational rehabilitation experts agreed his disability should be found favorable.  While he will be appealing this decision it will take on average over a year for the Appeals Council to address his case where they will decide whether or not a new hearing can take place for him.

In the meantime, Jason must try to secure income while battling Alports Syndrome; an inherited disorder that causes blood vessel damage to the kidneys that results in: blood in urine increased by upper respitory infections or exercise, over 35 kidney stones, flank pain, loss of hearing, ankle, feet, and leg swelling.  The condition can progress to early End Stage Renal Disease and has been further complicated by Jason's malformed left kidney that has been found to be severely scarred by his previous lithotripsies, nephrostomies, and stints.

In addition Jason is fighting an uphill battle with Degenerative Disk Disease due to herniated disks and stenosis that resulted in multiple emergency surgeries beginning in March of 2011.  He has since had a triple fusion of the C-4, C-5, and C-6 vertebraes and has been advised due to this status and further scoliosis of the lower back the vertabrae will continue to decline and most likely require further physical intervention. Due to the location of this emergency Jason was very close to becoming a quadraplegic, but has thankfully persevered.  However, he is in dire need of continued treatment and  Pain Management that he is unable to aquire in his current location.

Jason will be forced to attempt to re-enter the workforce while his disability case is appealed.  The job market in which he resides is very small considering it is a town of approximately 12,000 residents.  Job applicants are typically offered blue collar factory positions or healthcare positions both of which he is not able to pursue.  Job applications have been exhausted and the vocational rehabilitation expert in this area has advised him that most employers in this area are not participating at this time as unemployment rates are so high its an employer's market.  By relocating to Washington he will be able to receive both the medical and career options he so desperately needs.

If you can assist him in overcoming these health and geographic obstacles so that he might improve  quality of life and bring further joys and opportunities for his future it would be greatly appreciated.

He needs enough money for a bus ticket to Washington and meager living expenses and food.  He does however have places to sleep and doesn't want to be a financial burden on those that have been kind and trusting enough to allow him to stay with them.

Here is the rundown list of expenses:

$109.00 for bus ticket to Washington
$200.00 for food, toiletries, and bus fare for job hunting.

Bless you all and here's to your health!
