My name is Colt, and I am a cancer survivor.
A few years back, I was experiencing severe stomach pains and an inability to pass a bowel movement. After several doctor visits telling me I needed more fiber in my diet, it was discovered I had two growths blocking my intestinal track. Although deemed non-malignant, I underwent a round of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumors because of the problems they were causing. I was declared in remission a little over two years ago.
Since then, I have been making monthly payments for that treatment. I have called and plead and bargained with my insurance provider, the hospital billing department, and a lawyer over these payments; especially when I was forced to change providers after my parents couldn't carry me any longer and my monthly amount shot up. My parents help where they can, but they are barely making ends meet themselves.
I was off and on again sick earlier this year, missing work, due to the moldly environment I was living in combined with severe asthma and my still weak immune system, causing me to fall behind in payments. Now I'm struggling to pay off both the monthly payments, rent, and the debt arcued from being sick.
I am asking for help just to get rid of the debt, not on-going help with the payments. I have struggled for the last year to make ends meet, and am finally maxed out on everything and cannot afford to have to pay off more because I can't afford even the minimum monthly payments on the debt in addition to the bills, rent, and utlities. I've been selling off stuff as I can and taking commissions, but it's not enough. Because I haven't been able to pay off the debt, the payments have been causing more debt and now I'm further up the creek than before.
