Help Us Take Courses @ Harvard

Donation protected

We are Aboubacar Cherif and Minh Khoa Le Tran, seniors at Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky. We are first-generation Americans asking for your help to take Harvard University classes online to further our education and better our futures.

Aboubacar immigrated from Guinea and Minh from Vietnam only four years ago. Despite the language barrier and our very limited financial means, we have channeled all of our efforts and abilities toward advancing our educations to the highest levels.

Thanks to the generous support of members of our community and especially the nonprofit organization Educational Justice, we have worked hard to surge to the top of our high school class, earning excellent grades and test scores.

Aboubacar
Weighted GPA: 4.3
Most Recent ACT Score: 30, including a 34 in English!
(improved from original composite score of 19)

Minh

Most Recent ACT Score: 31, including a 35 in English!
(improved from original composite score of 20)

However, we realize that our high school, with its limited resources, may simply be unable to prepare us adequately for the demands of a college education in engineering and science. For example, rigorous courses such as AP Chemistry or AP Physics is just not offered at our high school.

To overcome this obstacle, we have taken on the most ambitious of goals: to enroll in two online Harvard courses in chemistry - Chemistry I and II - at Harvard University's Extension School.

As Educational Justice Scholars, we have exceptional tutors and receive the highest caliber of educational support from Educational Justice, so we are confident that we have the guidance needed to succeed in these courses.

But what we lack are the funds to register for these three courses, which will cost $2000 each, which is far beyond our abilities to pay.

Please help us make this ambitious dream - to show that we have what it takes to succeed not only at Central High School but also at Harvard - a reality.

We are asking for your help today as the registration deadline is January of 2015. We are immensely grateful for even the smallest donation!
