Help Save Max

Max is friendly and loving dog who was saved wonderful and giving family. Sam (8) and Andrew (6) are very attached to this amazing dog. Mom and dad are usually the first to help and give. Mom works crazy hours and is still super involved in school functions as well as the PTA. Poor Max started showing symptoms and April with a sudden high fever, lethargy, nausea, diarrhea, severe spinal pain, and refusal to eat. He wasn't originally diagnosed with anything at the time, they had two theories.One was a tick borne and the other was discospondylitis. He was given IV fluids and meds while hospitalized. the family then followed up with steroids and antibiotics at home and he seemed to get better. In early July he presented with similar symptoms and this, time the family treated him at home with subcutaneous fluids as well as heavy antibiotics. He started feeling better. Last week they took the kids to the beach before school started and of course took their loved Max. Max started to show the same symptoms, so again started the meds. When he did not improve they rushed him to a vet in NC. Max was given fluids and an antibiotic shot. They were then sent home with more high powered antibiotics. Sadly this had no affect on what was making this boys sick. For 4 days Max refused and food and got weaker as the hours passed. When they returned home from the beach he was presenting with spots of blood on his abdomen. Max was then hospitalized for 3 days, he had surgery to biopsy his skin and lymph nodes as well as an ultrasound. He was given more antibiotics and IV fluids. They still do not know what is wrong with Max. So far this process has cost them about $3500.00 and still have more expenses in the future. Please help us save this families loved pet.
