Give Goofy sight

Donation protected

Goofy came to our home in October 2013 as our foster dog from Small Dog Rescue of MN(SDR). He is a wonderful dog and by no fault of his own, he had had several homes in his short 7 year life. Because of this he had pretty significant anxiety with some behavioral issues. He also was completely blind in his left eye and had limited vision in his right eye from juvenile cataracts. Unfortunately for our family but fortunately for Goofy, the same time we started fostering him my husband (Keith) had an accident at work and separated his shoulder, which meant he would be off of work for awhile. Keith and Goofy then had the opportunity to spend day and night together. This provided Goofy with the stability he so desperately needed helping to almost eliminate his anxious behaviors and helped prevent Keith from getting depressed from being off of work. It was a match made in heaven. March 2014 was a big month for us. Keith found out his injury was far worse than they had thought and he would require surgery. Keith and Goofy were becoming extremely bonded and after a failed adoption Keith called a family meeting and stated, “When was someone going to stand up for Goofy and do right by him. And we got him doing so much better with his anxiety, and what if he gets adopted and he regresses and then we get him back and have to fix him again?” So with the help of some friends at SDR, we decided to adopt him for ourselves. Well to make a long story shorter, this month Goofy suddenly lost the vision in his “good” eye. The vet said this is typical for juvenile cataracts to suddenly lose vision. With Goofy completely blind, his anxiety is increasing again but we are trying to help him adjust. Keith is in rehab and hopefully will return to work in the fall, but things have gotten tight with Keith being off of work approaching a year. The cost of the surgery is way out of our budget right now, it is $2100 for one eye and $ 3250 for both. We would like to try to raise enough to do at least one or both eyes. If we don’t get enough or if we actually go over our goal, all extra money will be donated to Small dog rescue of MN. We appreciate any help that can be offered---Thanks
