Issues

Education

I am opposed to the federal Department of Education. Decisions regarding the education of our children are best made at the local level. I believe that our local teachers, parents and school boards should be the ones creating education standards not the federal government. We know what's best for children in our community not the federal government.

Civil Rights

I believe firmly in the civil rights safeguarded under the constitution. Too many of our rights have been infringed upon by an overreaching federal government who has been completely ignoring the constitution.

Immigration

I do not support amnesty, I support legal immigration and reforms to immigration that would make it not so cumbersome to legally immigrate while still maintaining strict requirements. Immigration is a vital component that helped found our country and continues to make it great.

Second Amendment

I enjoy the right of being a gun owner and am a strong supporter and advocate for the 2nd and concealed carry. Thomas Jefferson said it best when he said "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"

Pro Life

I am 100% pro-life. I believe that life begins at conception. I firmly believe that abortion is taking the life of an innocent baby.

The proper role of government

Ezra Taft Benson said it best when he said, "My attitude toward government is succinctly expressed by the following provision taken from the Alabama Constitution: "That the sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property, and when the government assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression." (Art. 1, Sec. 35)

Private Property

The federal government has overreached on private property rights for far too long now! Telling a property owner that they cannot build on their own land because of a rodent known as the prairie dog is on the land is absurd and unconstitutional. I will fight for private property rights.

Family Values

I believe that parents have the right and primary responsibility to raise and oversee their children's wellbeing by providing care, discipline and training in ethical and moral values.

States rights

The 10th amendment is clear when it says that the powers not delegated to the US by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states are reserved to the States respectively or to the people. The federal government has ignored and overreached on its power under the constitution. The states and the people were meant to have more power than the federal government and it's the other way around. We must stand up for and fight for our state sovereignty.

Budget and Taxation

I believe in limited taxation for the government to provide and perform the essential public needs. I oppose the use of tax dollars for purposes that are not within the proper role of government. Thankfully the states are required to balance their budget every year and are not allowed to have a deficit. I support efforts to make our state more self reliant and not beholden to money from the federal government.
