Future Teacher Following Dream
Hello Friends, Family and Strangers:
When I was younger I was told by several people that when I grew up I would either be a nurse, social worker, or teacher. I shrugged this off, and ended up just getting a general degree. Shortly after receiving my Associates in the General Studies I decided that cosmetology was what I really wanted to do. I pursued this and am a licensed cosmetologist, but after working in a salon and not having a clientele that 100% loved my work I gave up and threw in the towel and ended up with a 9-5 clerical job. During this time I attempted basic medical classes which I also quickly decided was not for me, knocking out ever becoming a nurse. Everything changed the day I was presented with the opportunity to assist as an aid to lead teacher in a preschool.
Between January 2014 and May 2014 I worked as an assistant to the lead teacher in a preschool in town. It was amazing how fast I realized that I had found my true calling in life. It's kind of funny because my mom made fun of me a little bit because she was the one who told me all along that teaching was the way to go for me, but when you're an 18 year old girl, who wants to listen to mom, but now, almost 10 years later, I really wish I would have listened.
Recently I came across this website. I am creating a profile in hopes I can come up with $1,000 to accomplish a CDA (associates in child development). Currently I am 4 months pregnant, working three jobs, and still paying off student loans from cosmetology school, so coming up with the extra money, and saving money for a new baby is very tough on minimum wage. The program I am looking to complete does not accept financial aid from FAFSA so this is the next best option.
