Joshua's Adoption
Donation protected
Andre and Joanna live and work in central China, teaching at a university and volunteering at an orphanage. In March 2013, they met a 7 week old baby boy that changed their lives. They felt an immediate connection and love for this sweet baby boy, and the staff asked Andre to name him. Andre chose the name Joshua, which we later found out was the name he was given just the day before by the manager of the orphanage. :)
Andre and Joanna began fostering Joshua part-time (as much as the orphanage would allow) in April 2013. Whenever Joshua was not able to go home with them, they would visit him at the orphanage! This year they were able to begin fostering him full-time. He is now 18 months old, almost 19 months old - and has grown so much! Andre and Joanna can't imagine life without Joshua, and already look to him as their son. They have begun the adoption process, but still have a ways to go. According to Chinese regulations both parents must be 30 years old to adopt a child from China. Andre fulfills this requirement, but Joanna is 29. They can officially submit their application in China in January 2015, when Joanna turns 30 (Joshua will turn 2 that month). They have completed their home study and are now working on what they need to do with their agency on the U.S. side. They are hoping that the adoption will be complete by next spring/summer, 2015.
Please pray for them as they continue to care for and love Joshua throughout this adoption journey! Adoption is not an easy thing -- there are many expenses and fees in America and China. Please help them financially if you can! Also, feel free to share this page with family and friends! Share their story and join others in praying for this family!
