America's Climber: A Photo Story

When I first became a photographer six years ago, I never thought I would become so invested in the climbing culture. I took my camera out to Kentucky as my friends and I climbed The Red River Gorge, and that is when I realized there is more to this country that I want to show the world.
The climbing culture is vast and interesting. From amazing climbing gyms, outdoor bouldering fields, but most importantly are the people who make it possible, the people who make up the culture.
My goal is to photograph
and videograph the people that make up the climbing cultural around the United States. My trip wil begin in New Jersey and end back in New Jersey. I plan on going down south first to Georgia and then across to California. From there go up to Washington and then across.
The final product will be a book filled with photographs and stories of the people and locations from the trip over a 2-6 months period. Along side the book will be a blog with video updates and video interviews with people and behind the scene photos.
The requested funding I am looking for is the help I need to make this project a reality. This money will cover the cost of park permits, climbing permits, camping permits, gas, the occasional coffee during an interview, and smaller things like pop tarts to eat on the road.
This funding will not only allow me to make this project happen but will also help me show the world the beauty that is the climbing cultural and also the beauty of America.
