Due to diabetes, hypertension and a stroke, Chris spent at least 8,000 hours"”that's 12 years"”on dialysis. Going there three times a week for 4-hour stints though necessary to live, takes away from the strength, energy and quality of life that a person has. Nevertheless, my husband never complained. He works, provides for his family, and serves God faithfully. In fact, I have always seen him determined to press on no matter how he feels. Those that know him would agree that his level of joy never ceases. It stands to reason though, that having a kidney transplant was a constant prayer to the Lord. He stayed on the transplant list for at least six years. In February 2013, he got the call and has been blessed with improved health and quality of life. But medical bills have not decreased or declined. Immunosuppressive medications must be taken for life and are the most expensive to purchase monthly. We spend at least $400 monthly for the medical regimen of pills. In addition, the transplant surgery and follow-up appointments are also costly. For this reason, we are asking our family, friends, and others who are willing to help us financially annihilate the $10,000 debt that hangs over our heads.
