Hood River Children's Park

Donation protected
In 1992, the play structure at the Hood River Children's Park was completed through an oustanding community volunteer build.  The park was intended to last 20 years based on materials available at the time.  Upon inspection in 2017, it was determined that the entire current play structure was past end-of-lifeIn response, the City of Hood River organized a committee to oversee another community build of a new play structure.  This committee, composed of representatives of The City of Hood River, Hood River City Council, Hood River Valley Parks & Rec,  Hood River Rotary, Livable Hood River, Mid-Columbia Association of Realtors, The Next Door and neighbors of the park chose Play By Design to assist in the project management and design of the park.

On Thursday Nov 9, the designer from Play-By-Design met with elementary students in the City of Hood River and used their feedback to complete the design of the new structure.  Drawings from hundreds of students were recieved.

Both the City and Hood River County Parks & Rec have allocated funds for about 75% of the project budget ($300kbut we need help from donors to raise the remaining funds ($100k) needed to build the park imagined by the children of our community to open in late spring/early summer of 2018

Funds for the project are being handled directly by the Hood River Rotary Foundation via Jess Miller ([email redacted] All donations from this campaign will go directly to the Children’s Park Fund (not the general fund for the Rotary Foundation)

We are also beginning to coordinate volunteers for the build tentatively scheduled for early June at present.  To inquire about volunteering, please email [email redacted] for more information
