What is CHIFLADAzine?

Chifladazine  is an online magazine that showcases the underrepresented voices of the Latinx youth. Like most great projects, most of the staff members of CHIFLADA met online through tumblr. Laura and I followed each other in 2012 and since then, we have created a short film and have come together again for CHIFLADA. After many skype sessions with Laura, we came up with what we want CHIFLADA to be like, the guidelines, the website layout, etc. in April 2014. Through tumblr, we networked with our friends from across the U.S. and asked them to join us on our journey to creating CHIFLADA. Now we have staff members from Boston, Chicago, Austin, New York, Baltimore, and San Jose. 

Every month, our zine has a different theme and most submissions from our staff and readers will relate back to the monthly theme. Readers do not have to be Latinx in order to submit, but it is strongly encouraged to stick to the theme and have respect for Latinx spaces.

What will this money go towards?

Our initial plan was to have a CHFLADAparty at the end of this year but due to prior commitments and a busy schduele, we are putting off our CHIFLADAparty until Summer 2015.

So instead this money will fund the printing of our first hard copy of CHIFLADA! It will composed of our favorite posts from June to October. If you donate, your name will be on the thank you page of this hard copy. 

Any extra money will go towards saving up for the CHIFLADAparty next year.

Why should I pledge?

CHIFLADAzine is something uniquely important because it is a safe space for everyone, especially Latinxs, to showcase their artwork, poetry, prose, photography, films, etc. Latinx voices are typically underrepresented in the media, especially Latina voices. Putting our poetry, prose, artwork, and photography into print is a dream come true of ours!  

We want to raise enough as soon as possible! We would greatly appreciate any donation of any amount.
