Portal 2 support my cousin & family

Undate 7/15:  I've been able to arrange for Dahlia to see a chiropractor in Longmont and that has been a positive push.  After time in the hospital in June, her health is stable and she's working with the family to create work.

This picture was taken at a family wedding recently, I love having time with my cousin and getting to know her more.  We had fun dancing together, felt good.  She's worked so hard to get her family rolling in a new home and the stresss of not enough money is a constant worry.  When Dahlia is in the hospital, Carolyn can't work, so it makes it hard to make ends meet each month.

I'm hosting another yard sale, Saturday, August 1st from 8-12.  It's a monthly routine here in my neighborhood and I'm so grateful to those of you who have donated your unwanted amazing things to go towards supporting their family.  Hope to see you on the 1st, please let me know if you have any donations I can pick-up.  Otherwise, you are welcome to leave them on my porch :)))

Update 3/15:  Cousin Carolyn is working (!) and the family is figuring out their new lives in CO.   Dahlia is feeling better in the new enviroment and getting caught up in her schooling, ready to move to the public high school!  Your support has encouraged them to have the courage to grow here and blossom before our eyes!

The house has proved to be too much rent on their extremely limited resources, so they are working hard to figure out what is going to work better.  Ideas for other housing and more donations welcome.  xo Cousin Cathy

UPDATE 11/14:  We are moved into a home in Colorado and the weather has been extremely cold!!  The trip was long and, a bit bumpy, but we made it, thanks to all for your support.  The new house has some room for us to breathe and  Dahlia is in a special school near us and is getting slowly settling into the new routine. The headaches effect her, but she is working at helping herself.   It's SO different, we need to keep the momentum that we have going.

Things will get better as we get the cash flowing.  Charlotte has work (yes!) which helps us so much.  Your donations and generosity have changed our outlook, we have a long road ahead to get out of debit and to pay rent each month, but we are extremely grateful for your continued support.  The Shapira Family (pictured with all the family, happy to be together again!)

My family and I have lived in Phoenix since 1992. In 2005 my youngest daughter Dahlia (now 15) was diagnosed with Pseudotumor Cerebri, which causes her severe headaches. The extreme heat of Phoenix exacerbates her condition and limits our ability to get outside and live a healthier life!

We now have a plan to leave Phoenix and we need your help!

In 2011 my oldest son and his wife moved to Colorado and they love it! We are going to move closer to them so we can support each other on so many levels. Just the cooler weather in Colorado will help us all thrive, especially Dahlia.

The medical bills from Dahlia's condition continue to be overwhelming. She has missed so much school because of her condition. The enhanced school system in Colorado will be able to accommodate her needs and allow her to catch-up and excel!

Our doctor at Phoenix Children's Hospital has already begun to collaborate with a neurologist at Denver Children's Hospital, which ensures a smooth transition for her continued care.

We need this change and are ready to work hard to create it.  However, we have EXTREMELY limited resources. We are asking for donations for moving and "getting established" expenses.  Any amount you can give will help us on the road to a better life.

Thank you to all our family and friends during this exciting, yet challenging time in our lives.
