Caring for The Carey Family

Donation protected
If you have ever spent time with any of the Carey family, you know that they are all compassionate, loving, and kind, which makes it all the more heartbreaking that they have had to endure such hardship this past week. On Saturday, April 30, their daughter Haleigh broke her ankle in 3 places after stepping it off an uneven curb, forcing her into surgery in Wheeling. The next day, May 1, their son Christian was on his way to celebrate his upcoming graduation from his masters program in counseling at WVU; while driving on I-79, a semi hit his car and flipped it, tearing the roof off and gravely injuring him in the accident. Christian was life-flighted to UPMC Presbyterian, where he is currently in ICU, and will remain hospitalized for the foreseeable future. He has an extensive list of injuries, which include a broken femur that needed emergency surgery in order to save his leg, a torn bladder and colon, a lacerated liver, a pelvis broken in six places, a double compound fracture in his wrist, broken ribs on both sides, broken facial bones, facial lacerations, and a collapsed lung. Christian continues to fight "like a honey badger," as his mom says, and tries to write and ask questions, and it's obvious his tenacity and spirit will pull him through.
Unfortunately, this will not pay his medical bills, or alleviate the additional financial burdens that his family is accruing while traveling and staying in Pittsburgh at the hospital. Any contribution is appreciated by any and all who love him.
