Caring for Caleb

As many of you already know, our sweet Caleb was involved in a terrible accident which has dramatically changed his life and the Brown family's lives forever. Caleb received a pellet gun shot to his left frontal lobe, the result of a gun accident causing in the pellet to be permanently lodged in his brain. The doctors have said there is no possibility of removing it. Caleb was med evaced to UPenn Hershey Children's Hospital where he is currently receiving amazing care. Right now he is getting the rest his body needs to recover & we are still in a critical period waiting for his brain to stop swelling. Once Caleb is through this critical period, it is our hope that he will make a full recovery. Doctors are optimistic that Caleb will be transferred soon to a rehabilitation facility nearby to begin intense therapy to help him fully recover. He will continue to require around the clock care for the foreseeable future.

A natural athlete, Caleb's love of football, baseball & wrestling is infectious and we have every hope that he will be able to recover to enjoy the sports he loves. Caleb has a love of the outdoors. From spending time on an athletic field, hiking in the mountains at Cunningham Falls, playing in the snow until he's freezing or roasting marshmallows on a bonfire, it is hard to contain him indoors. Please consider supporting our quiet, sweet Caleb, loving son, brother, grandson, cousin, a wonderful friend, so that he can fully get back to living his life to the fullest. 

Always there for all of us, now Amy & Steve need your help & support. These funds will mainly assist with accommodating Caleb's continuous rehabilitation services, home health care, special equipment & any other things that are not covered by insurance (which is a lot!). Help Caleb also by continued prayer support that he would be brave & persevere in facing these challenges. Also pray for his family as they face this recovery together. Pray specifically that Caleb's brain will stop swelling, that that there is minimal damage. Pray too that Amy & Steve are supported as they care for Caleb, but also that they can devote time to caring for themselves, Joshua, Jackson & Christian, who are missing Caleb & their Mom & Dad. 

We plan to post updates as we have more to share, so please return to this page often for information & updates in Caleb's progress.
