On Saturday, June 17th a tragic wildfire spread across the central region of Portugal in the municipality of Pedrógão Grande. Over 64 lives were lost and hundreds injured in this deadly blaze as residents attempted to evacuate their villages and flee the raging flames. As one of the country’s deadliest natural disasters, the Portuguese community is mourning the loss of loved ones and all those affected in this dark hour.
Canada For Portugal, is a movement involving entrepreneurs, media, Portuguese clubs and associations from Ontario, whose main objective is to raise funds to offer assistance to those affected by the tragic fires.
On CANADA DAY Saturday July 1st we are calling clubs, associations, businesses and individuals interested in walking in a “MARCH IN SILENCE / PARADA SILENCIOSA’ in support of the 64 fatalities in Portugal, we are asking those participating to be at Casa das Beiras on Caledonia by 4PM.
The March in Solidarity will be at 4:45 to Earslcourt Park where from 5pm on we will join forces to initiate action, create awareness and raise funds to assist those in need.
