No Student Left Behind Campaign

Donation protected
Our little 4th grader wants to THANK YOU ALL so much for your generous giving. We continue to be humbled in her quest to give up her 11th Birthday Party and Presents this Summer to aid in the relief the financial burden costs to send each 5th grade student to the Outdoor Education Camp she will attend at the start of the new school year this Fall to learn while exploring trails, hiking, canoeing, fishing, orienteering and boating.

She learned late in this school year that not all 5th grade students got to attend the week long outdoor learning camp at the fun Camp Grady Spruce because of the price each student is responsible for, to cover the expenses of the buses, fuel, meals and cabins and it broke her little heart they were left behind.

The goal of this fund is to help our Elementary send EVERY 5th grade student, volunteer chaperone, teacher and staff member to camp - for FREE!!

This overnight experience provides many growth opportunities for these students as well. Many students have never spent extended periods of time away from their parents and these activities help students learn personal responsibility (keeping up with their own possessions), how to get along (many students do not share a bedroom or bathroom at home, now they are sharing with 8-14 other people), how to appreciate diversity (yes, they know there is diversity at school, however through the overnight experience they will learn even more about customs, mannerisms, etc.),  conflict resolution (important to every environment where people live close together in a community is how to resolve daily conflicts), and self-reflection (from wondering where this all began, to my teacher is really different at camp, students see the world with a different set of eyes). Participation in an outdoor environment is a lifelong activity; this is often an introductory experience to what can be done in the out-of-doors. Every person is changed through this outdoor experience!

People are not afraid of helping one another, especially young children who suffer when they are left behind and miss this great self-esteem building experience before they graduate to JR High and young adulthood. We want the funds to flow as quickly as possible and directly to the school so they can plan accordingly and quickly, as camp is in September this year. What a GREAT way to start the 2015-2016 school year with NOT having to pay for camp!

Her wish-come-true is to help these students achieve 100% participation paid for by these donations to help ease the burden of the beginning of school year expenses and possibly leaving someone behind. So please join us, if you have not already, make a donation and forward the link.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
