Callum Staple-Hughes Memorial Bench

Hello, I am Sarah, Callum's girlfriend. Me and Callums friends and family would like to raise money to put a memorial bench on chassen park. Callum very sadly passed away on the 27th of May after just turning 21 in his sleep from Sudden Arythmic Death Syndrome which is in short where the heart stops with no clear cause. This affects 12 young people a week yet, hardly any young people know about it so any extra money will be donated to the charity CRY ( where a cardiac condition can be found) and SAD ( where no cardiac condition can be found) so they can continue to screen young people for heart conditons. Also to further their research into why young healthy men and women are dying suddenly.


The reason Chassen Park is so important to us is because 10 years ago at the young age of 11 a group of boys ran into a group of girls on the park and this sparked an amazing friendship that we all still have to this day. We have always prided ourselves and been so very grateful of the childhood we have had and as we have transformed and developed into young adults we have become more like brothers and sisters and without us all supporting and encouraging eachother we would not of made it through losing Callum.

Chassen park holds so many years of amazing memories where every weekend day or night no matter the weather we would all meet and enjoy ourselves. Callum for me myself was my childhoot sweetheart. He was my first kiss and throughout the years we were constantly on and off untill 2014 we got together for the last time and planned our future together which if things would of gone differently I know we would of fufilled . They were the best years of our lives and if anything I am so happy that Callum got these because we were very lucky.

The bench will be somewhere where we can go together or individually to celebrate and reflect on Callum and the amazing 10 years of memories we have had together and to bring his family to this park where callum ultimately spent half of his life.   Words cannot express how grateful all of us will be  to any donations that will help us to get this bench so Callum will forever be in the memory of Chassen and in the future when the group has their own familes they can enjoy this park as we did and Callum will be apart of it.
