Help GeekDomme Move to Boston

As many of you know, I decided to pursue my PhD in Education full time last year. I scraped by on $12,000 and loans as a single parent of a very sick child.

In the past two years, my daughter was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Epilepsy, Anxiety Disorder, OCD, and Narcolepsy. She is treated currently by several pediatric specialists at the Cleveland Clinic who have been nothing short of phenomenal.

Today, at almost 18, my daughter is managing her illnesses with medications and a positive attitude. She works part time at a pet store and graduated from high school with 60 college credit hours and numerous scholarships. She's off to Xavier University at the end of August, leaving her father and I with a small amount to pay.

Her dad lives 90 min from her school and will become her local support because...

...after more than 10 weeks (and counting) of being unemployed, applying for more than 75 jobs, being denied unemployment (because GA work "doesn't count"), battling a tendon issue in my foot (which means I can't stand or walk enough to take a part time, service industry job - I've tried)....

....I have been heavily wooed by a small college outside of Boston. The position is ideal and it's something I'll be really good at and enjoy. And they really want ME to come take the job. They're paying to fly me out for a final "interview" and suggested I take an extra day to look for an apartment.

However, the job will pay JUST enough for me to get by - Boston's a lot more expensive than Toledo and I have my own school loans to pay as well as my daughter's school.

I'll make it - I'm downsizing and getting rid of a lot. But even moving into a place half the size of my current home is twice my current rent.

I can make all of that work. What I CAN'T do is afford to actually move. I've gone through my savings (but my bills are all paid) and there's nothing left. No more cushion.

I don't need a lot - if I'd have gotten this job in May, I'd be fine.

But I do need a little help. First month rent, last month rent, and security deposit is several thousand on its own. And then there's a U-Haul.

So here's where you come in. I've never been one to ask for help. I'm stubborn that way. I'm usually the one giving a few dollars to these appeals. But I need a little help now.

I have over 5,000 followers here (even though I'm sure most of you don't check in often). But if every one of my followers gave me just $1, I'd be OK. That's it. Not asking for a lot. The cost of a large sweet tea at McDonald's.

It would really help me out.

I don't have a lot to offer in the way of perks or prizes. If you want to give a more substantial amount, I'll record myself reading something of your choice for you.  And hey - people ask you all the time to help them move, right? Surely a dollar is way easier than hauling heavy boxes on a Saturday morning!

Regardless of whether you decide to help me out, or even if you read this far, each of you has my gratitude just for being a faithful follower of my pervy little corner of the Internet.

In humble gratitude, I thank you.

p.p.s. Please be assured that your donation is 100% anonymous.

GoFundMe will ask for your name twice; once when you choose your payment amount, then again when you give your payment details. I can only see the name you put in the first time. You can choose an alias at that time (or choose to be listed as an anonymous donor).

You will be asked for your real name when you put in payment details, however, I do not see that information, nor does it appear on my site.
