Roselle Park is a small town (only one square mile long ) that lost its only movie theater over 6 years ago. The towns population is (2010 census) 13,300, 6% (798)under 5, 22.4% (2,979) under 18. There are 2,979 kids in the schools and 9,523 people above the age of 18. Since then, residents wishing to enjoy a night out at the movies have to drive about 15- 20 min away to theaters in other towns . Once they get to the theater, it is usually a large mega-plex, void of character, or it is smaller and the prices are so high.
The “Park Theatre” will provide the residents of Roselle Park with a long-awaited, hometown movie theater. The films shown will be from Hollywood releases, markets: families, young adults and kids . The building that will house the facility is the historic old movie / opera theatre , built in the 1920’s. Since its closing it hasn’t been used at all. Before its grand re-opening, the owners will restore the building to its former glory as one of the town's main destinations for evening entertainment. This building is also in the center of town and will help relight the town once again.
The two owners, Jared Pietz and Joe Shirley have the skills, experience with people, and work hard for the things that they do. Jared Pietz and Joe Shirley are more than capable of making this theater succeed. Jared has successfully managed other businesses and has worked with kids as well as adults. Jared Pietz currently is a Fire Fighter /Emt in Roselle Park, and works for the Elizabeth police department. At this time he is almost done with his major (Criminal Justice) at Union County College. Joe Shirley has 6 yrs of private banquet style catering experience, and two Disney internships being a lifeguard and parking lot attendant for a total of 14 months. He is majoring in Business and restaurant management in college and is bi- lingual in Italian and English. Jared and Joe have the skills and ability to restore and upgrade the building so that it will be comfortable and welcoming.
