This STAR-fish needs a better school!

Albert Einstein once said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” and I believe that this is what the education system has done to my son. They have caused him to believe that he is “stupid” or “not good enough” because they are comparing him to everybody else. But he is unique and an individual, and as a result needs to be treated this way within the school that he attends. He may not be seen as “smart” in the traditional sense, but he is beyond brilliant in other aspects. Ask him to draw you a picture and he’ll create a work of art as you’ve never seen or drop him a beat and he’ll weave together powerful and thought-provoking lyrics that will blow your mind or dance in a way that makes your heart smile.

Too often, people, especially those in power, seek to give others a label in order to seemingly make them fit within a preconditioned box, but not everyone fits within those limitations. My son is about to enter into high school, some of the most crucial years of his educational life, and I seek to place him within the best school that I possibly can. In order to do so, I need to have a Psycho-neurological Evaluation done and have the evaluating Psychologist attend the meeting with the Board of Education, but as single mother, the cost of $5,000 is beyond my means. I don’t want him to go to just any school in which he will fall between the cracks and be labeled as just another hopeless delinquent, I want him to go to a school in which he can flourish not only academically, but artistically, which is why I am asking for your help.
