Paraclimbing World Championships!

Donation protected
Help me become one of the first females to represent Team USA at the Paraclimbing World Championships in Gijon, Spain September 8th - 14th!

As a result of a neuromuscular virus when I was a small child, I was paralyzed from the waist down. The paralysis went away, but the muscles and bones in my legs and feet grew abnormally, and because of that I've used crutches and a wheelchair off and on my entire life. After years of surgeries and pain, I decided to have my right foot amputated in hopes of being more active.

Climbing was the first physical pursuit I chased after my amputation. It became my true passion personally and professionally. These days I spend most of my time at the climbing gym trying to get stronger and helping other disabled climbers get on the wall.

USA Climbing recently put together the first ever US National Paraclimbing comp. It was July 18th at Stone Summit Climbing Gym in Atlanta, GA. My climbing was strong enough to secure me a 2nd place finish in the Female Leg Amputee category, giving me a chance to be part of Team USA for the Paraclimbing World Championships 2014. Check out this great article on the comp for a more in depth view of everything that went into it.

This will be the first time the US has sent a team to Worlds that can represent in all the categories as well as the first time women will be representing. My category has historically been one of the smallest and I'd like to do my part to up the visibility of strong female amputee climbers to get us on the same level as the men!

Estimated expenses -
Transportation (air and ground) - $2000
Lodging - $1000
Food - $500
Training (twice a week plus gym membership for two months) - $650
Registration - $135

I've set the total goal a little higher to account for GoFundMe's fees & unexpected expenses.
