Updates from LGBT refugees in Kenya
Thank you all for the support you are giving. Your donations are life to Ugandan LGBT refugees in Kenya. The KDA-USA will be sending funds for rent and supplies on August 26, 2014. We already sent rent for the month of August for some of the refugees. Help us to help them for September. Please kindly donate to this cause so that we are able to pay for rent before the month ends. Thanks to you all.
Thanks to you all who have given so far. The KDA-USA would like to update you that your donation has contributed to 35 refugees being assured of accommodation for the month of August. We managed to send $850 for that purpose and $100 for the transportation of a very ill refugee from Kakuma Camp to Nairobi where he can access some medical attention. We still have more than 50 refugees in Kakuma Camp, over 70 in Nairobi. We need to send supplies to Kakuma; food, beddings, medication and transport. We have new arrivals in Nairobi who need accommodation and for those that we paid for will need September rent. Your continued support is highly appreciated. Please encourage your networks to donate too. Thank you,
Kuchu Diaspora Alliance-USA (KDA-USA)

Greetings Friends, Kuchu Diaspora Alliance -USA (KDA-USA)
The Kuchu Diaspora Alliance-USA (KDA-USA) is a network bringing together African LGBT human rights defenders who have fled their home countries to the US in search of safety. Our mission is to amplify the collective voice of the African LGBT movement. Ugandan LGBT refugees in Kenya
We are working on various pieces of work including the situation of Ugandan LGBT refugees in Kenya who are facing a very challenging time as they await resettlement by the UNHCR. We have reported about their daily lived realities on Kuchu TV, a media project of KDA-USA. You may find updates at https://www.youtube.com/user/kuchutelevision
At the moment, we are faced with a serious problem and we request you to support our people. It is getting rougher for our Ugandan LGBT refugee brothers and sisters to survive in Kenya. They need us financially, both those in Kakuma Refugee Camp and those in Nairobi and surrounding areas (Urban refugees). Needs in Kakuma Camp
In Kakuma we need Money for medical drugs, toiletries, transport to UNHCR offices, mattresses and beddings, clothes, food, etc. Needs in Nairobi and surrounding towns
The urban refugees need rent, food, beddings, medical assistance and psycho-social support, transport for refugee process, utensils, toiletries, almost all necessities. In order to get these we need finances. Support from KDA-USA so far
The Kuchu Diaspora Alliance-USA (KDA-USA) managed to raise $500 from 2 of our supporters that we sent to the camp to benefit 58 people. We have also partnered with the Global Justice Institute in NY to provide housing to 10 urban refugees. The need is still HUGE. We can't do it any more on our own.Please consider to support our friends in the following ways;
1. If you are in Nairobi and are willing to host a refugee for any period of time, please let us know by leaving us a message here or write to email@example.com
2. Please make a donation here that we would use to cater for the various needs;Picture of what your support can achieve
A room costs $35/month. One needs to pay three months in advance. That means that 2 people can have 3 months of accommodation for a total of $105.
Beddings and utensils for 2 people would cost $100 (once off cost).
Food and toiletries for 2 people for a month would cost $70.
KDA-US would ensure a transparent process and accountability hand in hand with representatives of the refugees.We thank you for your generous donation.
