Student Educational Trip to Cuba
Donation protected
Our School: New America School is a State of NM licensed public charter high school. We serve students
18 and under as well as adults 21 and over who want to earn a high school diploma. In addition, we provide English classes to all non-English speakers. Classes are free to the public.
With your Help! Help us send one of our top students and Honor Society member to Cuba this spring!
Background: William Hornder, a sophomore at the New America School-Las Cruces, entered an essay contest expressing his views of the Cuban embargo. William’s winning essay was selected by the Albuquerque-based New Mexico Human Rights Projects. As a result, he will be part of a delegation of 10 NM students going to Cuba. This 10-day program will give William an opportunity to learn about a country in transition through lectures, site visits, community service projects, museums, nature hikes, and direct engagement with Cuban high school students.
Program Costs: Students must cover the approximate $3,650 per student cost of the trip, which includes round-trip travel from Albuquerque to Havana, all meals, accommodations, entry visas, medical insurance, guide services, and a full-time program of activities.
Thank you in advance for any donation you can make to help support William, as this will be an incredible opportunity for him and our school community!
