Stafford Rescue Victoria Inc. will be building a facility on a wonderful 40 acre property.
We’ve been allocated a section of the land to build runs to keep up to 5 dogs.
There will be enclosed sleeping quarters and a grassed 7 meter run for each dog.
We will have a shed for adoptions, behavioural assessments & exercise yards. The quote we’ve received is $100,000+.
SRV are asking for any donation, large or small, as it all counts.
We need to build this facility to keep SRV going, without it we don’t know what we will do.

Stafford Rescue Victoria Incorporated (SRV) aims to build a new Community Foster Carer Network (CFCN) site that can provide temporary housing for up to five Staffordshire Bull Terriers (SBT), at any one time, whilst they are awaiting the process of rehoming a dog to find their forever home.
SRV has secured a site and have written approval from the local council that we are able to operate at this location.
When completed this site will offer a one stop location for the process involved with rehoming a dog. This facility will include temporary accommodation with sheltered kennels and a grassed environmental enrichment area for each of the four runs, an adoption area, a behavioural temperament testing area, an office area, storage area, additional fenced play yards and a larger enclosed area where the dogs will be taken on daily walks and given further behavioural training.
SRV’s goals for this project is to raise financial assistance to build a site that provides temporary accomodation for unwanted SBT at a higher rate than what we have been able to manage in the past. As the facilities will be a turnkey rehoming site, SRV will be able to optimise the use of our volunteers time and SRV donations in future endeavours and therefore, spend more time and money of public awareness events and undertake our planned community desexing program.
SRV already has written approval to house five dogs as a CFCN from the Macedon Ranges Shire council for this site and has identified the following activities required to complete this project;
Apply for grant from Department of Agriculture
Run a fundraising campaign to get public donations towards the project
Appoint a planning consultant to assist SRV to develop plans and apply for building permits
Build the new site
Open the new site and start using the accommodation to re home surrendered SBT
SRV has been rehoming surrendered and unwanted SBT since 2006 and has grown in time to operate a larger organisation that has re homed over 2000 dogs since its conception and an average of 200 dogs annually. SRV periodically runs fundraising campaigns to raise funds for emergency operations to save the lives, limbs, eyes of many SBT and has been able to raise over $10000 on numerous occasions in a very short period of time. Additionally, the advice and education given to the public and SBT owners by SRV has saved 1000’s of dogs needing to be re homed at all. SRV was granted charity status in 2012. During this time SRV has utilised various methods of caring for surrendered SBT by either using commercial boarding facilities, a single dog CFCN or leaving the animal with the current owners until they are ready for adoption. Commercial boarding facilities costs are high, burdening SRV with expenses at a minimum of over $9000 per dog annually. SRV finds it difficult to access these facilities during peak periods of holidays etc when it also a peak time that pets are often surrendered. Unfortunately most of our single home CFCN’s that go through our strict program, to be able to foster a dog, often become “foster failures” by keeping the dog, therefore making them ineligible to undertake any future foster dogs. Although not always practical, keeping a surrendered dog with their current owners provides SRV with additional problems of trying to coordinate the logistics of the processes involved with rehoming a dog and not getting a true picture of the nature of the dog that assists SRV in choosing the best place to re home them.
This site is a priority as it will allow SRV to continue to save the lives of 100’s of dogs in a more organised manner and at a higher rate than it has been able to in the past, therefore maximising our donations and volunteers time will allow SRV to spend more time and money on our public awareness events and community desexing assistance programs.
