Buddy's Medical Costs

Donation protected
Last March, our sweet hound dog Buddy (named after Buddy the Elf) was diagnosed with epilepsy. Last night (November 18, 2014) he suffered an event called status epilepticus and seized almost constantly for close to 2 hours, even with a valium drip. He was given a heavy dose of phenobarbitol and finally stabilized but right as he was about to be released home to us tonight, Buddy suffered another seizure. Buddy is not even 3 years old yet. Aside from the epilepsy, he is in great health-he is happy, healthy and joyful. His medical bills for the last 18 hours are over $1500 and the vet does not want to release him until he is seizure free for 24 hours. After he comes home, Buddy will need to be evaluated by a neurologist at NC State Veterinary Hospital (we are very fortunate to be close to this wonderful hospital) to give him the very best chance at managing his epilepsy through additional medications/changes in meds. Buddy is a rescue dog that we adopted days before Christmas 2 years ago. He walked in, barked and peed on the Christmas tree and it has been a ride we wouldn't trade for anything since then. Buddy's life was spared before we got him, when he was pulled from a high kill shelter in SC by a rescue (Thank you Operation Paws for Homes!). He's our senior hound, Georgia's best friend (our daughter nicknamed her Maleficent-she doesn't have too many friends!)! Buddy is endless love, he's silly, he's serious, he's tender, he's deep and he's brave- he's an integral part of our lives and we need to do everything we can for him. Thank you so much for helping Buddy and our family! Please keep him in your thoughts, prayers, meditations, etc! Thank you!
