Onyx's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Onyx is a one-year-old rabbit that was recently adopted from the Camden Companions Animal Rescue. Over her short life, she's developed problems with her GI tract and has had multiple bouts of GI Stasis and has trouble reaching a healthy weight. Even so, she is the nicest and friendliest rabbit you will ever meet.

Her most recent bout of stasis led to diarrhea and a subsequent urinary tract infection, and the latest visit to the vets has diagnosed her with a cecal/colonic neuropathy. She's not producing the cecotropes she needs in order to get the full nutrition out of her food. She is also prone to recurrent episoes of GI Stasis and they will likely continue throughout her life.

I've been told this is genetic and that all we can do is try to take care of her and make her comfortable. To get to this point we've had to go to the ER twice, have her (and my other rabbit) stay at the vet for a 5-day trip, have three follow-ups, and we'll probably have to continue to go to the vet to keep an eye on her condition.

I've been laid off for the summer, and my partner doesn't make much and has been saddled with all of the bills while I try to find a new job. The bills for her care just racked up so quickly between diagnostic tests, medication, and subcutaneous fluids, that I haven't had the chance to keep up and figure out how it's all going to get paid for.

She's had a hard life before she was rescued. I really just want to give her the life that she deserves.
