Brooke Nadine

Brooke Nadine was a bold and fierce activist. She constantly gave of her time and resources to help those who were in need. Once, the day after she received the news that her tumors had spread, she boarded a bus to Tornillo and spent the day protesting the separation of families.

She was also a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend. Those who were fortunate enough to know Brooke knew that she was extremely thoughtful and selfless. She went out of her way to make sure people knew they were special and valued. She remembered small details about what her friends liked so that she could mail them special gifts in care packages during bad times. She didn't want to talk about herself or her terminal diagnosis, and literally even on her death bed, asked those who visited her in the hospital how they were doing, and wanted to hear about their lives instead.

When people wanted to give her or her family money, Brooke directed them to her favorite non-profit organization, Casa Marianella. Casa Marianella provides full supportive services to immigrant families and is the only homeless shelter in Austin solely dedicated to immigrants.

Today, as we mourn her passing, we continue to raise money for Casa Marianella; as well as for an event to celebrate Brooke's beautiful life; and for the husband and young son she leaves behind. The money you generously donate to this fund will go to these three important causes and will enable her legacy to live on.
