Bring Dan Home

Donation protected
Many of you know my little brother Danny and by now you probably have heard he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle on September 1, 2014.  Dan was on his way from Sarasota Florida to Delaware County Pennsylvania to visit his son and the rest of his family.

In excited anticipation of his first granddaughter (due any day now), Dan was coming up north to help with painting the baby's nursery and assembling her crib.   When driving through Tampa he was hit by a car, thankfully he was wearing his helmet; however he sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury.  The EMT's, neurosurgeons, critical care doctors and other key personnel saved his life.

Dan was in a coma for several weeks, completely non-responsive and wasn't opening his eyes or moving at all.  Over the past two-three weeks there have been multiple signs of improvement in Dan's condition.  However he has a long road to recovery, a journey that will require the love and support of his family and friends in the Philadelphia area.

Rehabilitation experts agree that it is important for Dan's success to have family involved with therapy.  The only way for him to safely be brought home to Philadelphia area is to hire an air ambulance service to transport him.  His medical condiition requires medical personnel during his transport.  The cost of the service will be between $12-$15 thousand dollars.

Dan lives daily for helping others, his family and his friends all over the U.S.A. - When you call him and ask for help with anything -  if he can find a way to get to you he most definitly will.  This is the only reason we felt it was ok to now ask his friends for help in getting him home.

Dan has never wanted a lot  nor ever felt like he needed a lot but he is always willing to give what he has.  He has been known to collect cans and scrap metal to help stretch his finances...we thought this would be one way for all of us to help raise the money to bring Dan home. "Cans for Dan!"

As of today, October 6, 2014 - Dan remains non-communicative, however he is opening his eyes, he shows signs of reaching his hands to stop a doctor from annoying him, and he squeezes the hands of loved ones when visiting.   Our hope is to get him up here and admitted to Bryn Mawr Rehab Center and on the road to recovery.    "Where's Dan Now" has become a familiar mantra of all those close to him, we all know Dan loves adventure and he loves a good story.  Together we can give him the adventure of his life!

Dan has friends all over the USA - we have no way of reaching them all, but if all of you will share this page with your mutual friends - we have a better chance.

We are deeply grateful for any help you can provide.
