Around the world, cannabis oil- particularly high CBD strains, are treating children with intractable seizures in ways that traditional medications never could. Some children are experiencing 90-100% reductions in seizures by taking a cannabis concentrate orally. The side effects of this medication are non invasive, supportive, positive improvements that include increased eating, sleeping, pain relief and cognition.
In Canada we have several producers that can supply strains with the cannabinoids these children need. The two largest barriers to this medicine are the reluctance of doctors to prescribe it with out more practical research and the restriction on licensed producers to only provide it in dried form (flower) for smoking.
First, most doctors in Canada are reluctant to prescribe a drug without clinical trials which could take years. There are hundreds of children that need this medication now. Children that have exhausted all other pharmaceutical and dietary options and still continue to seize. This therapy is presently used all over the world with success, why not in Canada yet if it can help so many now?
Second, Health Canada only allows marijuana to be supplied in dried form, requiring patients to smoke their medication. This is both impractical for children and inaccurate to measure dose. This can be changed through education. We can get this study started and create usable research for our doctors with your help. Money is the only thing stopping us now!!
Cannabis Oil has the potential to treat hundreds of children, not just with seizures but with cancer, autism, and other difficult to treat disorders. CBD, THC, CBG, CBN among the many cannabinoids have all shown to have amazing therapeutic benefits. This study is the first step in proving efficacy now, when it is needed.
The Study:
We are raising funds for a pediatric research study of the Haley's Comet strain on seizure disorders in children ages 10-18 yrs of age, in order to offer a safer alternative and in most cases the only option after all others have been exhausted.
Please help us to get this study funded now, enough is enough, there is no room for policy issues to create barriers to life. THIS is an example of how important this medicine is saving lives.
