A Voice for a Silent, Low Income Woman

Donation protected
A local, low-income woman is in need of an iPad in order to efficiently communicate. She survived Stage IV Head and Neck Cancer, but lost her voicebox (i.e., complete laryngectomy) and parts of her tongue as a result. An electrolarynx, which is a vibatory device held to the throat that acts as an artificial voice, is typically used to aid people whose voicebox has been removed. However, because of excessive radiation and surgery this device is not a viable option. There are multiple, amazing Apps, such as text-to-speech programs, that are available to use on iPads that make communication possible for those who otherwise would be silent. The use of an iPad would significantly increase this woman's independece and ability to advocate for herself. Please help her in meeting her financial need!
