Scott Cairns for Representative, WA 9th

Hello! I am running as an independent to represent Washington's 9th Congressional District from Tacoma in the south to Bellevue in the north. Our district has been represented since 1997 by an entrenched career Democrat named Adam Smith from SeaTac. I would like to breathe fresh air into the House, serve a single term, and then parlay my B.S. in Industrial Engineering into enlisting in the Navy as an Ensign.

My position regarding federal government is simple: Adherence to the Constitution with due deference to the principles so carefully laid out in the Declaration of Independence.

My platform has three pillars: improvement, funding, and maintenance of federal infrastructure within the 9th district, reasonable regulation of all facets of government action that impact our "general welfare," and finally to examine with a critical eye the role of social media and viral campaigns in federal representation and governance.

I have lived in the 9th district since August 2001, with the morning of September 11th acting as the demarcation between my childhood in McLean, VA and my adolescence in Bellevue. I graduated from Newport High School ranked fourth in my class of 300 with a 4.12 GPA. I live on Mercer Island now with my mother and father.
