Please help Wulf make it to the stars

Donation protected
On the 5th of July 2014, my stepfather Wulf Zeiler passed away after the transplanted liver he received in 2012 suffered an unexpected acute rejection episode.

While his passing was peaceful with my mother by his side, we are now left trying to find the best way to commemorate his life and the man that he was, is and ever shall be by sending some of his remains to space to rest either on the moon or among the stars.

Despite his viking style and down-to-earth Southern ways, Wulf had a bright mind and was an avid sci-fi fan. His bookshelves are crammed with books from Neal Stephenson, William Gibson, Arthur C. Clark, Heinlen, Spider Robinson and too many more to list. He was a great fan of Firefly, the Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits (both old and new), Dune, Stargate, Terra Nova and the X-Files and a list of other shows and movies that would only have been eclipsed by his prodigious fiction collection.

Growing up in the 60s, Wulf was a child of the Space Race era. He'd believed in his younger years that one day he'd live to see people forming colonies on the moon, making commercial flights into the near earth orbit or heading out onto long voyages into deep space. Though his feet were firmly planted on the ground, his eyes were always aimed skyward.

Not long before Wulf passed, my mother and I were discussing how he'd want us to remember him when he was gone. We'd previously discussed the fact that we were saddened by the fact that he'd never get a chance to see his dreams come to life and in a moment of inspiration, we decided to see if there was a company who would be able to offer some sort of memorial in space.

After some investigation we found Celestis Memorial Spaceflights - http://www.celestis.com/services.asp. They were offering a chance for families to send small portions of their loved ones ashes into space, either in a return service, an orbit service or a proposed lunar or deep space launch. And we had our answer.

We would like to send Wulf on his final voyage either to the moon, or on a deep space mission. Unfortunately these flights are quite expensive, costing $12,500 USD. Then there's the cost of making sure his remains are safely able to be gotten to the US in time for the launch so we're asking for $13,000.

And now we're humbly asking you - if you knew Wulf, myself or his wife Judi or stepson Ronald. If you're a sci-fi fan who wants to see one of your own sent to the stars, if you're just a kind-hearted person who wants to help a family send off someone they loved in the most fitting way possible. We appreciate anything you can offer to help us make this come true.

Thank you
~Siobhan.
