Heather Climbs Kilimanjaro!

FUNDRAISING DEADLINE: 09/01/14
This fall I have been granted a unique opportunity- four months of study abroad in Tanzania! Through the School for Field Studies, we will be able to study the ecosystems and wildlife of East Africa firsthand, as well as the culture of the Maasai people.
The entire semester, we will be just a few hours' drive from the roof of Africa: Mt. Kilimanjaro. At 19,341 feet, Mt. Kilimanjaro is the world's tallest free-standing mountain. And I want to climb it.
The only problem is, in order to protect both the people and the mountain, it is mandatory to climb with a group of guides. This can cost anywhere from $1600 to several thousand dollars, and after cleaning out my bank account for tuition, I simply won't have the finances to make this dream come true on my own.
This is where you come in! Help me live my dream of summitting the Roof of Africa.
I can picture it now, standing on top of a millenia-old volcano in the dark and freezing cold, oxygen-deprived, tired, and sore everywhere, with the biggest and most childlike grin of my lifetime spread across my face.
If you can't donate, that's okay! There are other ways to help. Use the buttons below to share on your facebook or twitter, and rope your friends and acquaintences into lending a hand!
