Breaking a Sweat for Education

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

On August 24th, I'll be breaking a sweat for education at the Hotlanta Half Marathon right here in Atlanta! All proceeds will go to my first grade class at Harper Elementary!

As some of you may know, I am a 2014 Teach for America Corps Member. Teach for America is a non profit organization whose mission is to ensure that every child receives an excellent education regardless of his or her socioeconomic status. This fall I will be teaching first grade at Harper Elementary. Harper is a Title 1 school, meaning that the majority of the students recieve free or reduced lunches and are from low-income communities.

As a Corps Member and Educator, my mission is to provide my students with the resources they need to receive the education they deserve. By running the Hotlanta Half, I would like to honor my students and raise money to purchase the materials they so desperately need.
