We are raising money to send Sidney to the 2014 IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships and to the 2014 IFSC Youth Pan American Championships. The Youth Worlds event is in Noumea, New Caledonia (East of New Zealand) from September 19th to the 23rd. The Pan American event is in Puebla, Mexico from November 26th to the 30th.
This past climbing season, Sidney finished in 1st place for her age category in all 3 disciplines which are Bouldering, Sport and Speed. At the Youth Worlds event this year, she will be competing in Sport and Speed. At the Pan American event this year, she will be competing in Bouldering, Sport and Speed.
Sidney is 15 years old and has been competitively climbing for 7 years starting in 2008. She has made the National event in all 3 disciplines every year for a total of 21 times. Out of those 21 events, she has made U.S. Team (top 4 in each category) 17 times and has been a Youth National Champion 10 times (2 Boulder, 4 Sport and 4 Speed). At the Youth National level since 2008, Sidney is the most decorated female climber in the nation. She also competed in Speed at the Youth Worlds event last year in Victoria, B.C. and placed 5th.
Sidney just completed her Freshman year of high school in which she currently has a GPA of 3.68. She lettered in Cross Country and in Track & Field in which she qualified for State in the Long Jump.
After all that she has accomplished at such a young age, Sidney remains humble and constantly works hard toward her goals, the first of which is to become Youth World Champion in Sport and Speed in September. Please help her to have the opportunity to reach those goals. We are very appreciative that you took the time to read about Sidney.
