Homelessness and bad luck in the job market has inspired us to forge our own "Oregon Trail."
I'm not much of a writer so let's try to keep this short and sweet...
My name is Alana. My comrades on our journey (so far) will be Aaron, Ayden, and Dylan. The nice way to put it is that we all have had bad luck in the last year in the job market and with our individual housing situations. The real and upfront version is that we are all on the verge of homelessness, some of us not for the first time, and we have either lost our jobs or our current ones are barely helping us to survive.
So Aaron has used the last of his money to purchase an old Blue Bird bus. The rest of us have put what we have towards getting the bus ready for this "adventure" of sorts. We are looking to take it from Allentown, Pennsylvania to Portland, Oregon with a few stops in between. The exact route is still pretty vague but we plan on heading south towards New Orleans, west through Texas and New Mexico, then north through California and Oregon.
Out in Portland we have opportunities to start fresh and not starve or live out on the streets. What we are looking for is monetary support to help fund us when it comes to fuel, food, and other needed supplies to get this bus up and running.
The plan is to do a vegetable oil conversion so that the bus can run off oil or diesel fuel, install some hammocks, putting in some sort of kitchen, and building a small living area. Then filling it with as much food and living supplies as we can afford.
We are planning on leaving sometime in early August. We are gonna be really roughing it but hopefully with your help we could afford to do this right.
