They said it was just a dream

Many people do not know this, but humans forget 90% of their dreams. For myself, a young adult with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), that makes the 10% I remember even that much more important. Throughout the years finishing High School and going off to College was simply just that, a dream. This year however, it’s truly becoming a reality. My parents and family have always been my guardian angels helping me and supporting me through all that CF has challenged us with. They have taught me the importance of staying healthy and keeping up with my daily CF Therapies and Medications. Each and every morning, I get up on own at 4:30 and begin my daily ritual. After all, it’s up to me to take care of myself. I can’t be relying on other’s to make me do what I know is my responsibility, my lungs, my dreams, my life. Upon graduating from High School I plan on going to College and pursue a career in Music by becoming a Music Manager. This is a goal I have had for the last few years and it’s something I know I have a passion for. I plan to attend Lipscomb University in Nashville Tennessee, which is near Vanderbilt University. The reason for this is because Vanderbilt has one of the top CF facilities in the United States and it’s less than 2 miles from Lipscomb. If there is one thing CF has taught me I would have to say it’s the idea that life will challenge you. It will knock you to your knees and see if you are a fighter, if you are going to get up and survive all it has to offer. Then, just when you think you have seen it all, life comes back and gives you another challenge, another mountain to climb, another adventure to experience. Yes, I have been through a lot in my life and CF has played a major role in who I am today but, I won’t let it take away my dreams. I’m a CF Fighter and I’m ready to go forward and experience the next chapter in my life. I want to thank you for your time and consideration for this scholarship. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated and I just want to say, “Thank You, “ Caitlin “Katie” Talpash
