Help my Family Move out before Eviction!

Donation protected

Hello, everyone. I am one of two children of a single mother. I hate to have to do this but my family and I have no other choice at this point. In 2010, our home of 14 years was foreclosed on and we were forced to move elsewhere due to my father losing his job and being unable to support us anymore. We were homeless and lived with family members for 3 years. Finally, last year, everything was looking up. My mother found an apartment for my brother and me. We were assured by the landlord that this was a family community, there was no drugs, violence, or gang activity. Boy, was that a lie.

The issues began as soon as we moved in. There were PILES of dead roaches on the floor. Nicotine stains on the walls. There was also and awful smell that never went away. We have an exterminator come but the infestation is too bad. They come from the apartment upstairs which the landlords have also done nothing about.

On the subject of our upstairs neighbors, I'd also like to say the incessantly smoke pot. While I am completely okay with the legal smoking of marijuana, they do not do it legally. I know this because I have witnessed their "deals" on multiple occasions. The reason I tell you this is because the smell infiltrates our apartment. I myself have asthma and my little brother has special needs (severe autism, depression, and anxiety) and the smell is bad for both of our health. It gives my brother migraines and causes him to vomit. We have told the landlords on multiple occasions (in writing, I might add) about this issue, but it was never taken care of.

On another note, my mother as well as myself have been sexually harassed when outside. My mother has been spit on and cat called. I have had my backside slapped and also have been cat called.

People have come to our door asking if we "sell." Many people out here do. I know for a fact that many adults illegally sell cigarettes amoungst other things to minors as well.

Now, more recently, even though we have been content with living here as it was a place to live, things have gone sour. Our infestation has extended to millipedes and our light fixtures as well as 3/4 of our stove tops have broken. My mother injured herself and required immediate surgery. She was out of work (unpaid) for over a month and bed-ridden.

These are photos of her hands after surgery and after she had the casts taken off a couple weeks later.

Today was her first day back at work but we do not have enough time to save money from her checks. I myself am 17  but can not work because I take care of my little brother as he cannot be alone at any time of the day.

This is my little brother by the way. Headphones are because noises outside and in public in general are usually much too loud for him.

So, obviously no money= no rent. We've been able to scrape by food and utility-wise with the very little money we had saved.

I mean, would you want your family to live in something like this?

But we had no choice. We are now being evicted. We have one week to move and zero money to do it with. My mother cannot lift over two pounds for another month. We went to court but the judge had no mercy despite everything that has happened to us. We have nowhere else to turn to. My brother cannot handle something so traumatic again. Last time, he had nightmares for months. My mother tries so hard to give us the moon and more but we've just been dealt a bad hand. I've seen the internet do amazing things for people who needed money just as much as us. So, even if you can't donate, signal boost this, please. I wish I had something to give in return. I just hope I am at a place one day where I can return the favor to someone else. Even $1 helps. Thank you so much for reading this. Thank you also for any donations. They will be put to a good cause. God bless. <3

EDIT: I just wanted to show some additional credibility as some people have been questioning ours.

These are various complaints sent to the office of our apartment. I aplogize that they are not in order and some are a bit blurry. Anything marked out is telephone numbers/addresses etc.

This is my mother's doctor's note to return to work.

I THANK YOU ALL SINCERELY FOR YOUR KIND DONATIONS! I just want to assure anyone who plans on donating that their money is going to be well-used by my family and i. I understand wanting to know exactly where your money is going. :)
