Footage: From "FACE MY ABUSE" Domestic Violence Awareness Community Walk 2013 http://youtu.be/9eFYfQbb9XM
In 2006, I started my organization call Face My Abuse as a survivor for over a decade and a broad member of a Domestic Violence shelter in Brooklyn New York City.
I stared to take matters in to my own hands by doing short interviews with victims of Domestic Violence, in hopes that through my consultation it would bring awareness and some methods of prevention.
Since then, FACE MY ABUSE has dedicated all of its efforts to raising awareness in Brooklyn with the sole purpose of eliminating Domestic Violence in communities .
In 2012, I decided to raise the bar in the community and organized our first annual domestic violence walk in Brooklyn New York Wingate Park. It was a grand success, reaching 80- 90 attendees who turned out, we were able to set a tone and a forum that allowed our guest to speak freely about their encounter with their abuser; everyone took turns as we listened, cried, laughed and then walked. it was so overwheming everyone strongly suggested that I kept it going.
My goal is to raise $5,000 to help rise awearness in Brooklyn where we currently have one of the highest rate of Domestic Violence.
There were nearly 30,000 cases of Domestic Violence in New York City last year. Albany reported Domestic Violence cases skyrocketed by 12.3% in the city last year, with Brooklyn checking in as the worst borough, according to the Daily News. Attacks against wives, girlfriends or ex-partners rose even higher at 17.3% -state.ny.us/statistics/reports/
With the money raised from this campaign, We can bring more awareness and reach more families that are affected and afraid to speak out.

Here's a young girl who was sharing her story as she cried out for her mother! Whom she lost from the hands of Domestic Violence as her grandmother console her. In 2012 at the Frist annual face my abuse Walk.
A victim whom came a long ways to attend our walk and told her story about her abused husband that cut her across her throat and left her to die. She had to stay in a mental institute for years to recover from the truma.
One of our group member was so emotional as she told us that her daughter was the victim from her past abusive relationship.
Many just stop and listen in shear shock to hear some of the ladies and men share stories.
