Hello Everyone!
We are the Bates Academy Academic Games Team representing Detroit Public Schools. We strive to go to Super Tournament which we need about $20,000 for all of our expenses. Our team needs this money by February 27th, 2015. The Bates team includes more than 50 fifth through eighth graders that work very hard to be great Academic Games players. We have won many State Academic Games championships in the past and have made it to Nationals every year for 33 years. We practice during lunch everyday and after school once or twice a week. We students also have an Academic Games class at school and, if that isn't enough, we go to Saturday tournaments once a month. Can't you tell that we LOVE Academic Games?! Well, we do!
Bates Academy is located in Detroit, MI, TAUGHT AND COACHED BY MR.HOLSTEIN! Every year, our team participates in the State Academic Games Super Tournament in Grand Rapids. But we always have to leave some kids behind because our school district doesn't give us any money to help pay for our Academic Games Team to go to the Super Tournament. We sold hotdogs and other consessions at basketball games and family fun night at our school, but that isn't enough. We need some help!
Why should you support us? Well, there are, in fact, many reasons why. First of all, Academic Games teaches our peers many different areas of education, such as Math, English, Symbolic Logic, and History/Social Studies. Academic Games teaches us strategy skills. We play various games, like Equations, On-Sets, Linguistics, and Wff 'n Proof. We also play other games, such as Presidents, World Card, and Propaganda. All Academic Games participants benefit from the experience. We learn things that aren't taught until years later.
Please donate money to help get our entire team to go to the Super Tournament. Remember our deadline is February 27th, 2015 so we need money fast! Also thank you to all of our donors for donating and helping us get closer to our goal.
